Play Audition Instructions

Fall Upper School auditions are for both the Fall Play and the Competition One Act! To audition for the Upper School One Act, The Dark Road, and for the Upper School Fall Play, Twelfth Night, you will need to prepare one monologue per show!.

• Monologue(s)
  Select one monologue linked below per show for which you’d like to audition (if you are auditioning for both Twelfth Night and The Dark Road you should have two monologues prepared. If you are only auditioning for one production, you should only prepare one monologue from that show’s materials) .

  • Memorization is not required, but you should be familiar enough with the piece to perform it confidently and clearly with the focus being on telling the story of the monologue and character. If you’d like to reference the text during your audition, you may do so using a printed copy or an electronic device that you provide—please note that no printed materials will be provided at the audition.

• Improv
  In addition to your monologue(s), you may be asked to participate in a brief improv exercise or to perform a portion of a monologue again with a different direction. This is not a reflection on your initial performance—it’s simply an opportunity for us to see a different side of your interpretation and how you take direction.
